As part of our aim to support worthy courses both in Nigeria and elsewhere, our association Soyuznikis-UK nominated the S.O.S Children’s village Isolo to be the recipient of our charitable donation for 2013. The S.O.S children Village Isolo is a non governmental organisation in Lagos state that provides home for kids who for one reason or another are not able to stay with their natural families or have been abandoned.
They take in kids from everywhere within the state and cater for them till they are independent to make a life for themselves. The S.O.S children’s village never offer their kids for fostering or adoption once taken in. They have a primary school within the compound that is open to both the general public and resident kids. This is to integrate the kids with general public and feel part of the greater society. Post primary education, they attend secondary and higher education like any other kid in the state.
During my visit, I was shown round the village and was opportuned to meet with staff and managed to share a birthday with one of the kids and also made aware of the sponsorships that are done by good minded individuals and organisations towards the residential blocks as well as events for the kids. As agreed and mandated by the group that a charitable donation be made to S.O.S children’s village Isolo, Lagos state in form of food and consumables.
The sum of £300.00 (Three hundred pounds) was allocated for this purpose and I Mr. Olushina Alaka was tasked to execute this on behalf of Soyuznikis-UK as part of my trip to Nigeria between the months of December 2013 and January 2014. The allocated money (£300.00) was converted to Naira at the rate of #272.00 to a pound and this amounted to #81600.00 (Eighty one thousand and six hundred Naira).
The receipt for the aforementioned purchases is shown below for affirmation. Pictures taken during this project can be seen in our photographic gallery under the heading of SOS The goods were delivered to S.O.S on the 1st January 2014.
Please help us continue with this valuable work and projects. We are totally funded by our members and donations from the public.

They are:Cancel Culture - Very Divisive
The most dangerous of all falsehoods is a slightly distorted truth. The danger of instant judgements and monolithic narratives are all too prevalent in these deliberations. Where you will find cold-blooded grasping; massive sense of entitlement; an inability to show gratitude; an unrealistic expectation of puritanism from others; and a passionate performance of virtue that is well executed in the public space ( social media) but not in the intimate space of co-habitation and friendship.
These are very trying times. Technology as recent as couple of years ago was supposed to bring us all closer - remember the global village?. The emergence of an old doctrine - critical race theory the epitome of this dramatic change in attitude towards anyone with a different point of view has put paid to that paradigm. These contrive and concerted attack on one race as being the source of the biblical original sin is trivial and false period.
We insulate ourselves in ideological bubbles of similar-thinking people and refuse to countenance or even engage with the truth. We now seems to be building echo chambers with titanium and carbon fibre cladding just to make sure we do not see or hear anything different. If these cancel culture mentality is being adopted to the pandemic, may be herd immunity would have been achieved by now. We have become communities in a dislocated social fabric that is fracturing at an astonishing rate. If we do not amend this fast, rapture seems to be the only ramification.
